Meiyun Ren is a mother, a grandmother, and an entrepreneur. Her father was a farmer in a coastal city east of Beijing. As a young girl, Meiyun often assisted him in planting, tending to, and harvesting his crop. After finishing school in her community, Meiyun was married, gave birth to her daughter, and, seeing demand for a local dumpling shop, opened one, which she successfully ran for several years.

As China industrialized, Meiyun became part of that movement, finding a talent in industrial material sales. Following a divorce, Meiyun continued to support her father and mother, the product of one of the marriage policies of the early post World War II Chinese Communist Party.

Meiyun immigrated to the United States in 2014, secured a professional license, and attempted to obtain a job but found that doors were closed to people without “strong” English skills. Like so many other immigrants she found herself locked in a cycle of having limited choices working in businesses that were strictly Chinese-community based.

As an excellent observer, Meiyun noticed perpetual immigration issues related to lack of communication skills between attorney and immigrant which posed significant risks for her friends who were not being properly represented in some instances. Always one to lend a helping hand, Meiyun resolved to find solutions to these issues, while improving her language skills across cultural lines.

When Meiyun was introduced to Curt Lyman, the melding of his legal and investment skills and her understanding of complex Chinese/Asian immigrant needs began to take shape as an intersection where solutions for her community might be found. The result was the creation of a partnership between Curt and Meiyun known as Meiyun Haihua.
